Granular Activated Carbon Cartridges GAC
Carbon in a format of granular activated carbon (GAC) has the most flexible properties. Convenient in numerous cartridge formats and extremely economic when loaded directly into pressure vessels.
GAC
For water treatment, GAC combines well with other media such as phosphate, resins and sediment traps for specific contaminant targeting. Utilizing a highly efficient longtudinal flow for greater carbon contact time, the GAC, GAC-SF and TS-GAC are ideal where a long contact time allows for high chlorine as well as other organic reductions.
For years the NSF 42 certified GAC range has been Pentek's most popular carbon cartridge and is a traditional favourite for specific applications even with the advancements of carbon block technology.
The design, with flows from bottom to top ensures a long contact time, allowing for maximum absorption and treatment. Using a clean, acid-washed bituminous carbon with a large mesh size, this granular range is primarily a chlorine, taste and odour reduction cartridge with the advantage of a coarse 20 micron pre and post-filter pad to retain carbon fines that is not susceptible to blockage if high particulate is present.
TS-GAC
Also within the GAC range is the NSF 42 certified TS-GAC. This cartridge shares the same characteristics as the GAC but with the addition of FDA grade phosphate crystals to reduce rust stains and scale deposit, protecting water lines, fixtures, appliances and commercial equipment.
GAC-SF
Another option is the GAC-SF, a silver impregnated granular activated carbon cartridge that removes solids, organics and chlorine, reduces taste and odour, as well as preventing the growth of bacteria.
